Heart Meditation Pictures

Meditation pictures represent the infinite field of possibilities vibrating all around us. These pictures can give us glimpses into the universal heart that we all inhabit. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. That is something to contemplate in meditation. What images do we choose to meditate on?

meditation time
Meditation has entered the mainstream of Western life and continues to be documented for it’s healing effects. Let the following meditation pictures inspire and uplift you and guide you in your practices. It is useful to place your own images around you. These images are your own personal vision board which helps you clarify what you desire. You might experiment with different images to see which ones have the best effect on your attitude and feeling state.

meditation posture
Let your meditation position guide your meditation. Posture plays an important role in learning how to meditate. Strive for a magnetic stillness, known as the monolithic state. You radiate a magnetic stillness just like the earth radiates its magnetism. Your magnetic field merges with that of earth.

Royal Posture
Egyptian Pharoahs (King and Queen) in a meditation posture we call the Royal Posture. In heart meditation we sit Royally because we are engaged in a noble endeavor. We also strive to expose our hearts forward so that we can receive energy into our hearts just from our posture.

Universal Heart
Consider this meditation picture to be the heart of the universe. Consisting of infinite galaxys which create a heart of consciousness or awareness. Sufis speak of a universal heart which contains all hearts.

meditation candle
A candle can represent a guiding light for us. It may also represent our own hearts illuminating the hearts of others.

downward meditation
Consider that energy is coming down upon us at all times. It enters us through the top of the head (the crown chakra) and passes through us, through our hearts and down and out through the bottom of our spines, our feet and even our palms. Using the downward breath (the water breath) we can imagine being under a waterfall and we draw that water into us on the inhale and send it deep into our hearts.

chakra meditation
The body is said to contain seven primary energy centers called Chakras. In meditation we practice moving energy through different chakras. For example in the water breath meditation (downward breath meditation) we imagine drawing energy in through the crown chakra on the top of the head. On the inhale we draw the energy down through the head and into the heart. On the exhale we send the energy to the depth of the heart and then out through the bottom of our spine, the root chakra. Notice that the heart chakra is the central energy center.

hindu meditation
Notice the holy expression on this Hindu face. In meditation we attain a peacefulness that is holy and sacred. Meditation pictures are indeed worth a thousand words!

Zen Forest
Nature is very prominent in meditation pictures. Almost any nature scene can be meditative and going out into nature is one of the best things we can do to deepen our connection with earth.

Heart intelligence is part of our being. By meditating on our hearts we can access this intelligence which is quite different from the intelligence of the mind.

heart's electromagnetic field

(image used courtesy of HeartMath.org)

The heart generates an electromagnetic field. Scientists at the HeartMath Institute in California have shown that the heart’s magnetic field is 5000 times more powerful than the magnetic field of the brain, and it reaches out several feet from our body. These scientists are also showing that feelings of love, gratitude, and appreciation in your heart boots your immune system, increases your heart’s vital capacity, reduces stress hormone levels and high blood pressure. This is known as cardiac coherence.

Hazrat Inayat Khan
Hazrat Inayat Khan was a Sufi Sage and Mystic from India, born in 1882. His spiritual teacher (PIR) requested that he travel to the western world bringing teachings of Unity, meditation and music. His goal was to harmonize the East and the West. He is attributed with bringing Heart Rhythm Meditation to the US in the early 1900s.
